Indoor Air Quality – Conditioned Crawlspaces
Minimum ventilation rates, combustion air for appliances and fireplaces and radon mitigation have to be considered as part of a healthy home design. This workshop takes a “whole house” approach and offers common sense, cost effective solutions as well as new and emerging trends.  Conditioned crawlspaces reviews the difference between conditioned and unconditioned crawlspace on a code level. What type of purpose the conditioned crawlspace serves, which environment is most conducive to the conditioned crawl’s benefits and best practices for installations.

A case study of a Boise area home using common sense, cost effective materials combined with computer modeling (RemRate) and current codes. Using that for a backdrop, we’ll discuss some of the various issues that include green materials, re-purposing materials, codes, comfort and the potential energy savings related to remodeling. And, what we’ve learned from numerous other projects.

Briefly explain what radon is, where it comes from and what the construction industry can do to help prevent excess exposure and reduce the risk of lung cancer related deaths in Idaho. Information gathered in Idaho over the past fifteen years and over 20,000 test results have been broken down by counties and zip code maps will be available.
