Employees and Councilmembers of the City of American Falls held a ribbon cutting and open house at the city’s new wastewater treatment plant on June 11. The plant cost just under $14 million, with about a third of that coming from grants. It can clean just over a million gallons of water per day.
The City of Caldwell’s annual Independence Day celebration began with a parade followed by eating, dancing, and playing at Memorial Park and culminated with an incredible firework show that lit up the sky over Brothers Park.
The City of Caldwell’s 15th annual Mayor’s Community Service Scholarship Golf Scramble took place on June 5. The event highlights the community’s heart for advancing the education and concerns of its youth. The scholarship makes it possible for many of the town’s high school graduates to go on to receive higher education.
A ribbon cutting was held July 2 to mark the opening of the new terminal and runway safety area to Friedman Memorial Airport in Hailey.
Sculpture on loan from five regional artists has been installed in Ketchum’s Town Square and along its Fourth Street Heritage Corridor as part of the city’s seventh annual Art on Fourth Exhibition. Selections range from a life-size bronze deer to a 10-foot-high human figure.
The Lewiston Fire Department has been awarded a $305,455 Assistance to Firefighters Grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency. The funds will go toward the purchase of 48 self-contained breathing apparatuses, rapid intervention packs and face masks. A condition of the grant stipulates that usable breathing devices be donated to smaller regional fire departments that do not have the funds to update their equipment. The funds are the first that the department has received from the grant since 2002.
The City of Twin Falls will host the first Twin Falls City Fair on July 15. The fair will provide an opportunity for citizens to learn more about the latest developments to provide high-quality and efficient services to citizens in Twin Falls.
