AIC Highlights Noteworthy People

Check out noteworthy things being done and honors received by people in Idaho cities around the state.

Shelli Schumacher was appointed as Mayor of the City of Cottonwood, replacing Dennis Duman who resigned. Linda Nida was appointed to the City Council.

Thirteen members of the Meridian Mayor’s Youth Advisory Council (MYAC), Mayor Tammy de Weerd and two MYAC advisors will attend the National League of Cities (NLC) Congress of Cities and Exposition Marcy 5-9 in Washington D.C.

The Orofino City Council appointed Don Gardner as the Council’s representative to the Clearwater County Economic Development Council (CCED)

The Preston City Council appointed Tyler Olson as the new City Attorney over all non-criminal cases. Criminal cases will continue to be handled by Vic Pearson, the Franklin County Prosecutor.

The City of Rockland was Capital for a Day on January 27. Gov. C.L. “Butch” Otter and other State leaders, including Lt. Gov. Brad Little met with community residents, including some students, and answered questions. This is the 86th Capital for a Day since Otter took office.

Elmer Freeman and David Cook are new lead workers for the Twin Falls Public Works Department. Also, Dan Wade passed his OIT for wastewater, Cody Bourgeois and Juan Puente are now Class 1 Wastewater Collection Operators, and Kevin Meyers has joined the team as a Wastewater Operator.

Captain Rob Wade retired from the Twin Falls Fire Department after 24 years of service.

Ed Morris left the Twin Falls Fire Department after 16 years of service to take a city management job for a small town in Vermont.

Sean Burgess and Brian Rice were promoted to Driver/Operators for the Twin Falls Fire Department, and Tom Bloxham was promoted to Captain. Also, Kyle Eldridge and Joseph Renaldi were hired as Firefighters.
