The annual Idaho City Clerks, Treasurers and Finance Officers Association (ICCTFOA) Institute will be held at the Shilo Inn in Idaho Falls on September 21-23, 2016.
The ICCTFOA plays a critical role in providing training and mentoring for city clerks, treasurers and finance officers. The theme of this year’s Institute is “Ready for Change,” and the agenda is packed with informative sessions and knowledgeable presenters.
Some of the topics that will be covered in workshops at the Institute include: records retention, electronic records management, budgeting basics, budgeting best practices, Clerks 101, Treasurers 101, auditing, agendas and minutes, cash handling, banking, Fair Labor Standards Act, planning and zoning, area of city impact and annexation, alcohol catering permits, and intergovernmental relations.
Keynote speaker Kevin McCarthy of 360 Narrative Group will discuss how to discover your personal blind spots and adapt your behavior to enhance your influence, strengthen relationships and make better decisions.
The Wednesday luncheon general session will feature Jim McNall, Mary Kummer and Carl Ericson of ICRMP covering harassment in the workplace, including warning signs, how to file complaints, how complaints are investigated, disciplinary action, and the importance of following the city’s personnel policy.
Dr. Janet Mills of Boise State University will lead a Thursday breakfast general session on understanding psychological types at work, as well as a concurrent workshop on team work.
The Thursday luncheon general session will feature a keynote from Dr. Stephanie Witt of Boise State University on the importance of upholding citizens’ expectations for ethical and transparent government, using thought provoking case studies.
The Institute will conclude Friday morning with an Ask It Basket general session where a panel of experts from AIC and ICRMP will answer questions about anything pertaining to city government.
We strongly encourage elected officials to send their clerks, treasurers and finance officers to participate in this outstanding training opportunity.
The early bird registration deadline is September 2, 2016 and you can find more information and register online. We hope you can join us.
