New and Easy Access to the City of Lewiston's Finances

The City of Lewiston is excited to announce the launch of a new digital platform that provides residents, elected officials and staff access to the city’s finances. Lewiston is the first city in the state of Idaho to use the OpenGov platform. "As the first city in the State of Idaho to be an OpenGov client, providing a high level of transparency and openness, we are proud to be a leader in the State when it comes to assisting the public with financial data," says Dan Marsh, Administrative Services Director.
It transforms complex financial data into an interactive, digital format that enables better analysis and understanding of the city’s finances.
"This is our way of providing continuous transparency of city finances," says Marsh. "Examples of city data available within the program range from year-end financial reports, to monthly budget summary reports, to individual checks written to vendors the city does business with."
The OpenGov platform displays government spending dating back to FY 2012. Users can view historical revenue and expenditure trends over time and explore multiple views of financial data, including by fund, department, expense, or revenue type.
The program makes it easy to navigate between city departments and various expenses and can be illustrated in the standard spreadsheet format or in color charts and graphs.
"We encourage citizens to give it a try and send us feedback or questions. The program provides links to send your inquiries to us directly," says Marsh.
Beyond sharing information with the public, The City of Lewiston can also use OpenGov internally to create custom reports, manage operations to budget, and keep administrators informed. With today’s launch, The City of Lewiston joins a growing list of more than 500 leading cities, counties, state agencies, school systems, and special districts across the country that leverage OpenGov technology.
