YAY!  TREES!  The last Friday in April each year marks Arbor Day -- a special holiday to celebrate renewable, sustainable TREES.  The Idaho Forest Products Commission is sponsoring a statewide Arbor Day celebration.  To honor trees and working forests, IFPC will give away 25,000 of seedlings at Home Depots throughout the state on Friday, April 28 and at numerous local community events.  We have a bright new Arbor Day t-shirt available for purchase and a colorful new brochure with information about Idaho’s forests and Arbor Day.  During the month of April, you may see billboards along Idaho highways and hear or see public service announcements on radio and television featuring Governor C.L. “Butch” Otter and State Forester David Groeschl.  On April 28, the Commission will host the state Arbor Day celebration and tree planting at the State Capitol.  Learn more about Arbor Day and Idaho’s forests at

We hope you’ll get involved in Arbor Day 2017!  It’s a great opportunity to get folks thinking about how the future of Idaho is growing in our forests.  Many communities already have plans for a local Arbor Day event.  Join your city or plan your own celebration!   Here are ideas to help you celebrate:

Trees are important.  They store carbon, filter water, provide shade, wildlife habitat, recreation opportunities, jobs and the wood and paper products we all use. Best of all, trees are a RENEWABLE resource that can be SUSTAINABLY managed.
