Check out noteworthy things done and honors received by cities around Idaho as they work to create quality cities.

The Idaho Department of Environmental Quality awarded a $65,000 wastewater planning grant to the City of Emmett. The funds will be used to prepare a wastewater planning document. The purpose of the project is to evaluate the current wastewater treatment system and address future National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System permit requirements. The remaining $65,000 of the $130,000 project will be funded by the City.

The City of Meridian held its Memorial Day Tribute at the Rock of Honor Memorial in Kleiner Park on May 29. This year, the ceremonies included the burial of a time capsule, including community and military memorabilia. It is to be opened in 2042.

Intrinsic Organics broke ground on a new state-of-the-art facility in Weiser on June 6. They will be hiring mid to highly-skilled employees to work at the facility and anticipate 20 new hires in the first year. Local farmers have been contracted to grow SunSpudsTM. Intrinsic Organics will become the first domestically produced organic insulin supplier in the USA, with the crops being grown in Idaho.
