Check out noteworthy things done and honors received by cities around Idaho as they work to create quality cities.

The Idaho Department of Environmental Quality recently awarded a $32,250 drinking water planning grant to Hayden Lake Irrigation District. The funds will be used to prepare a planning study. The purpose of the project is to evaluate the water system’s deficiencies and identify necessary improvements. The remaining $32,250 of the $64,500 project will be funded by the Irrigation District.

The Jerome Fire Department visited several of the area Elementary Schools to discuss the importance of Fire Safety with the students. The students learned about ways to stay safe and how to appropriately respond in the event of a fire.

To Remember and Honor our Veterans, the City of Jerome is participating with Wreaths Across America to place Remembrance Wreaths on the graves of our country’s fallen heroes in the Jerome Cemetery on December 16 and the act of saying the name of each and every veteran aloud. The Jerome Cemetery has 815 Veterans’ graves.

The City of Potlatch received a $6,900 GEM Grant from the Idaho Department of Commerce at the end of October. This grant will help with the $16,000 Fiber Cost Analysis Project (high-speed internet study) for the City.

The City of Potlatch received an $80,000 Idaho Community Development Block Grant on November 2 from the Idaho Department of Commerce. The grant will help fund a Splash Pad in the City’s park.

As a result of the many questions received from churches asking what they can do to protect their people in light of the recent tragedies happening across the nation, the Twin Falls Police Department hosted a Place of Worship Safety Forum on November 15. Leaders of all faith-based organizations within the community were invited to attend. During the forum, law enforcement officers discussed safety issues and took questions from local church representatives.
