Check out noteworthy things done and honors received by cities around Idaho as they work to create quality cities.

The Idaho Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) recently announced the award of a $45,000 drinking water planning grant to the City of Lewiston. The funds will be used to prepare a planning document. The purpose of the project is to evaluate the water system’s deficiencies and identify necessary improvements. The remaining $165,000 of the $210,000 project will be funded by the City.

The City of Moscow is inviting public input and feedback on potential traffic calming and multimodal improvement options for the Third Street Corridor identified by a working sub-group of the Transportation Commission.

At a recent City Council Meeting, the Pocatello City Council formally offered its support for Marsy’s Law in Idaho by voting to adopt a resolution “affirming the city’s commitment supporting an amendment to the Idaho State Constitution to provide equal rights for crime victims.” The measure states “the City of Pocatello is dedicated to strengthening victims and survivors in the aftermath of crime” and the City “actively supports Marsy’s Law for Idaho as a way to strengthen the public health and safety in Pocatello.” Marsy’s Law has already been passed in Montana, Illinois, North Dakota, South Dakota, and California.

The City of Twin Falls’ Cabin Fever Day will be held on January 6 and will host more that a dozen venues that include martial arts, tile painting, swimming, golfing, and much more. Cabin Fever Day is a partnership between the City and several area businesses, which work together to provide fun free activities for residents of all ages, encouraging them to break the “cabin fever” by getting out and staying active in the community.
