Check out noteworthy things done and honors received by cities around Idaho as they work to create quality cities.

The Idaho Falls Fire Department received the American Heart Association’s Mission: Lifeline® EMS Gold Award for implementing quality improvement measures for the treatment of patients who experience severe heart attacks. The department was able to achieve this high level of achievement by meeting evidence-based treatment standards for two consecutive years.

The City of Idaho Falls has released the findings of its 2018 Idaho Falls Housing Inventory Study, conducted by the Idaho Policy Institute at Boise State University.

Idaho’s Oldest Rodeo—The War Bonnet Round Up—will take place in Idaho Falls August 2-4.

A ribbon cutting was held on July 25 to officially open a new surgical suite at the Pocatello Animal Shelter. The suite was funded by a $50,000 grant by PetSmart Charities® as well as $20,000 from the Whittier Trust and $20,000 from the Myers family. The suite features two surgery tables, an exam table, a dental table and a fully equipped preparation and recovery room.

For the fourth year in a row, the Pocatello Fire Department and Bannock County Ambulance recently received the American Heart Association’s Mission: Lifeline® EMS Gold Plus Award for its quality of care for heart attack patients. To be eligible for the distinction, departments must meet specific criteria related to heart attach care.

The Idaho Department of Environmental Quality awarded a $18,435 drinking water planning grant to the City of Priest River. The funds will be used to prepare a planning document and an environmental review. The purpose of the project is to evaluate the water system’s deficiencies and identify necessary improvements. The remaining $18,435 of the #36,870 project will be funded by the City.
